DESCRIPTION OF CLASS: Students will join me for a 6 week long course, and learn the principle of making a Turned tripod table. Students will learn how to turn a spindle on the lathe with just a few chisels. Students will turn a pedestal base from a premade design or a design of their own. They will make three nicely curved feet and join them to the pedestal with a tapered sliding dovetail joint. Students will have the option to make a round top or a rectangular top. Students will take home a Tripod table at the end of class.
Students will learn how to use a lathe, and how to cut a sliding dovetail joint. Students will make a hand planed cherry top. Students will learn to use the dovetail saw, chisel, router plane, jack plane, and smoothing plane.
No tools or experience will be required. High quality tools will be provided. Students will be allowed open studio time on Sundays during the week of the class. On this day Students are Welcome to come to the shop and use the tools and catch up and refine on the classroom project.
